PCSX2 PlayStation 2 Setup Guide 2026

PCSX2 is the definitive PS2 emulator. It runs the vast majority of the PS2 library including Tekken 5, Street Fighter EX3, Dragon Ball Z Budokai, and thousands more.

BIOS Setup

PCSX2 requires a PS2 BIOS. Place your BIOS files in the bios/ folder. PCSX2 supports multiple BIOS versions — use the BIOS that matches your game's region for best compatibility.

The Double Input Bug

A common issue on arcade cabinets: PCSX2 receives double inputs from USB controllers when the game also reads raw DirectInput. Fix this by disabling the "Enable SDL Input" option or by using the DInput controller plugin instead of XInput.

Per-Game Configuration

PCSX2's per-game settings allow you to override graphics, audio, and controller settings for specific titles. Right-click any game in the game list to access per-game properties.

Kiosk Automation

Launch PCSX2 in fullscreen with a specific game using: pcsx2.exe --fullscreen --nogui "path/to/game.iso". This bypasses the PCSX2 UI entirely for kiosk-style arcade cabinet operation.
